Your Guide

 
Pam Kirk

Pam Kirk is the owner/operator and guide of Silver Striders. She has been hiking since 1970 and snowshoeing since 1983 in the backcountry. Pam has hiked, backpacked, snowshoed, and climbed mountains, rocks and frozen waterfalls in 5 countries and 14 US states. She shares a passion and respect for the outdoors with her fellow hikers and snowshoers.

Plus she has an eagerness to teach and help others. Pam has taught at the university and community college level for 17 years. She has taught snowshoeing at Central Oregon Community College from 2003-2006. She volunteered in the mountaineering program at the University of Alaska for 4 years. She is committed to assisting others to stay physically fit and mentally and emotionally balanced.

She has 80 hours of wilderness medical training and a Wilderness First Responder medical certification.

She has received extensive naturalist training from the staff at the Deschutes National Forest and the staff at four State Parks. This naturalist training included fire ecology, ecosystems, volcanic activity, geology, trees, climate, water and fish. She has also completed two college courses on mammals and birds and numerous courses at COCC to familiarize herself with the local flowers, trees, and other plants.
