If You've Never or Hardly Ever Been on Snoeshoes:

… the Silver Striders snowshoe education system is a safe, fun way to start:

1) First, attend a free snowshoe orientation and slideshow (dates are listed in the schedule and the left column of this website). I bring and describe snowshoes, packs, clothes & other gear, and you get to ask questions and take home a handout of this information. Although it is not mandatory for you to attend a snowshoe orientation before you 101 trip, it is strongly recommended.

2) After you attend an orientation, come with us on a "snowshoe 101" trip. These introductory trips are short, relatively flat and designed solely for instruction, so you can get a feel for snowshoeing.

3) After completing your 101 trip, signup for any snowshoe trip on the schedule that fits your physical ability. There are 3-4 snowshoe trips a week listed by level of easy, intermediate and advanced.
